Imprint Interactive
Technology builds virtual environments for all platforms from
screen-based to fully immersive systems, including multi-participant
and networked applications. Our goal is to empower the user to
be an active participant in the virtual environment. Through our
novel approaches to design, Imprint Interactive Technology strives
to transcend the distinction between work and play, entertainment
and education.

TREATING POST TRAUMATIC STRESS
DISORDER
Imprint is collaborating with researchers
Tamar Weiss (Haifa, Israel), Azu Garcia-Palacios (Spain) and Hunter
Hoffman
(U.W.
Seattle), we are programming an immersive virtual reality simulation
(a form of VR therapy) to help survivors or witnesses of terrorism
who have developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

PAIN CONTROL
Imprint is creating virtual worlds specifically designed for clinical therapies and research. SnowWorld 3 is designed for use with burn victems to help ease the extreme pain of their daily wound care. Measurements of brain activity using MRI scans have documented the power of highly immersive and engaging virtual worlds to significantly reduce pain. SnowWorld 3 was created for Harborview Hospital in Seattle, and is also being used in leading hospitals across the US and Europe, and by the US military.
Experience SnowWorld 3 at the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Museum's Design Life Now: National Design Triennial in New York City. Through August 2007. |

TREATING PHOBIAS WITH VR EXPOSURE THERAPY
SpiderWorld, created for psychologist and leading VR researcher, Dr. Hunter Hoffman, is Imprint's latest contribution to the ongoing research and clinical use of VR for treating a variety of phobias. SpiderWorld is designed to both treat patients, and also a modified version of the world has been developed as a museum exhibit to inform the public about this important new form of therapy. SpiderWorld is currently on exhibit at the Heinz Nixdorf Computer Museum in Germany and will be traveling to sites in Asia.

COMPLEX ADAPTIVE SYSTEMS TRAINING: GROUPMIND
It is tough
to make critical decisions in a vacuum! Up to 100 people work
together to pilot a spacecraft through a series of obstacles and
objectives. This is a fun and massively multi-user simulation employed
by the BIOS Group to educate executives about how complexity theory
and de-centralized control can be used to more efficiently conduct
business. It is a wild realtime 3D experience complete with asteroids,
comets, caverns, nebulae, a binary star system, and a space station!

ZENGO
SAYU: Japanese Language Learning Environments
Zengo Sayu is a virtual environment
where students learn Japanese through direct experience with the language.
The environment is populated with objects that talk and help students
learn vocabulary, sentence structures and grammar through meaningful,
self-directed activities. The game can be played either by a single
student with the computer, or by groups of students interacting within
the same virtual space. This
virtual reality approach for teaching foreign language enables students
to take control of
their own learning and explore the language in an environment built
to support them.
